Yesterday I started my ride from Enumclaw High School's parking lot and pedaled my way 35 miles up 410. I stopped in Greenwater for a rest, a chance to use the bathroom, and a refill on food and water. Then I continued on my way. At 35 miles, just short of the park entrance I turned around and returned to Enumclaw. I started early, 8:00 AM and was back in the parking lot a little past 1:00 PM. I noticed a ton of people, trucks, tables, being setup for the RAMROD which is today. I am leaving in about one hour to help at one of the rest stops. Unlike yesterday, which was sunny and clear in the morning when I rode, this morning it's quite foggy! The riders started at 5:30 AM about 1 1/2 hours ago. I hope they are being safe. I'm glad I went out and did my ride yesterday. I really needed it after our week of gloom, rain, and chilly temperatures.
Tomorrow my daughter is off and we are going to do our 45 mile Enumclaw ride. We plan on starting early, probably around 9:00 ish. First a stop at Starbucks for our mochas. :)

Neat! I always wanted to ride up 410. I think that would be a neat ride. Did you enjoy the ride? What was it like for you? Is climbing up to Mud Mountain a hard climb?
Tuesday I did the Connell Prairie loop like I’ve mentioned before. Wednesday I rode into work. But I didn’t ride today because I was sick in the night last night and didn’t get much sleep. Didn’t show up for work until noon. Will try to ride into work tomorrow. Saturday will try to do the Foothills trail loop. No plans for Sunday yet.
Save some food for the RAMROD bikers OK? :)

Gary,
12 days without a bike ride for me! Yikes! We got back from our vacation late Sunday night. We pulled into our drive just a bit before midnight. Joe, the kids, and I just did not want to spend another night in a hotel room. We did have a great vacation but I missed riding my bikes. The weather in Montana was HOT. It was in the middle and upper 90s the entire week. Plus it was very smoky from all the fires over there.
I can’t believe the temperature difference compared to Montana. Last night my daughter was wearing her sweater and complaining about how “cold” it was. After a week of 90 degree temperatures it does feel quite chilly here.
I was hoping to get a bike ride in today but I am still playing “catch up” with house work and laundry and groceries. Hopefully tomorrow morning bright and early I can sneak in a 30 miler. Weather permitting.
This weekend Joe, Jackie, and I are going to try and do the TRYBR in Tenino. Joe and I also would like to get over to Lake Sawyer near Black Diamond and get a mountain bike ride in. I don’t even remember the last time I rode my mountain bike. Maybe it was about a month ago?
Well the deli rest stop that I worked at for the RAMROD was fun and a lot of work. My feet and back hurt so bad by the end of the day. I started at 8:30 AM and got home a bit past 8:30 PM. So 12 hours on my feet making sandwiches for all the riders coming in to the stop! I met a lot of friendly cyclists at the stop. One lady, in her 70s, has been in every single RAMROD since the inception of the ride, only missing one. And she has finished every one plus she her time is in the middle range not the end. I give her a lot of credit. I hope I am as fit as she is when I am in my 70s! I think I will apply for next year’s RAMROD! I did ride it once in 2004 alone and would really love to ride it again. The guy in charge of the deli rest stop took a group photo of all of us and I just sent him an email asking if I could have a copy. I would love to add it to my scrap book.
I hope you have been getting out a lot and riding. I hope to start riding again asap. I was up to 50 miles before vacation but after almost two weeks off I don’t know if I can do 30 miles. It’s amazing how fast you lose your conditioning.

Sue: Glad that you had fun and made it back OK. I thought you were going to ride your mt bike while you were in Montana?
I did a 33 mile Foothills Trail loop Sat. Sun I got to working putting in a new garden in front of the house and strained my back. So I had to take a few days off the bike. Will ride my Connell Prairie loop this afternoon to get back into it.
Yes. It has been cool. But actually it’s perfect temp for bike riding.
Catch you on your next post.

Gary,
Yes, we were going to do some mountain biking at Big Mountain near Whitefish but it so happens that this is the year they decided to install new ski lifts and gondolas at the ski resort. So we canned it. The man there said we could pedal half way up the mountain but the top would still be closed to riders and hikers. So it wasn’t worth it to us.
Sorry to hear about your back. I hope you are feeling better and that you get to ride your Connell Prairie loop route this afternoon.
It’s currently 3:05 PM and dang chilly/breezy out there. But like you said perfect for riding. So I really will try to get out first thing tomorrow morning for a ride. I’m shooting for 30 miles. I wonder how my legs will do?

Sue:
The back will be fine. It’s just muscle strain from hacking through mat like roots as I was creating a new flower garden next to my driveway.
I didn’t ride last night, as so I could make some headway on finishing up the garden. Had roots, dirt and rocks all over the driveway to haul out. Should be finished by this weekend.
Hope you enjoy your ride today.

Gary,
I did get out this morning and ride. I am going to write a post as soon as I submit this. So come back in a bit and read about my "adventure" I had today!
